Luke Shaw has resumed full training with the England squad, providing a timely boost ahead of their upcoming Euro clash against Slovenia. The Three Lions must secure a victory to solidify their position atop Group C, having garnered four points from their first two matches.

England's performances in the tournament thus far have faced significant scrutiny, along with criticism directed at Gareth Southgate's tactical decisions. Following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Denmark, questions were raised regarding Southgate's choice to include Shaw, who had been sidelined since February due to injury. However, Southgate's plan to reintegrate Shaw into the team for their third group-stage encounter seems to be progressing as planned, as Shaw participated in full training on Monday.

Earlier concerns about Shaw's fitness were somewhat allayed after he initially trained alone following the Denmark match. Now, he is back in contention to feature prominently in England's upcoming fixtures.

In Shaw's absence, Kieran Trippier deputized at left-back, despite being naturally right-footed and lacking the width typically associated with attacking play. Trippier, who also struggled with a calf strain sustained in the Denmark game, also returned to full training alongside Shaw on Monday.

Shaw stands as the lone left-footed defender in Southgate's final 26-player squad, following the exclusion of Jarrad from the provisional list. Ben Chilwell, despite earning 21 caps for England, was omitted from the squad due to a subpar season with Chelsea.

Alternatives for the left-back role include Joe Gomez and Ezri Konsa, both primarily right-footed center-backs.

Shaw's most recent competitive action dates back to February, when he featured for Manchester United in their 2-1 victory over Luton Town. His return was cut short due to a recurring muscle issue, necessitating his substitution at half-time.

The inclusion of Shaw in England's training sessions ahead of the Slovenia match marks a potentially pivotal development as the Three Lions aim to advance in Euro 2024.
