Brentford Complete Club-Record £30M Signing of Thiago
Brentford FC has finalized the acquisition of striker Igor Thiago from Club Brugge for a club-record fee of £30 million. The 23-year-old Brazilian, known for his prolific scoring with 18 goals in 34 Belgian league matches, joins the Premier League side after a successful campaign with Brugge.
Thiago, who won the young player of the season award in the Uefa Conference League, expressed his excitement about joining Brentford: "I'm very happy to have signed for Brentford and to get to know the club. It's an immense source of happiness for me to play in the Premier League."
He takes over the number nine shirt from Kevin Schade, who now wears the number seven jersey. Thiago's arrival is seen as a replacement for Ivan Toney, who may depart as his contract nears expiration.
