Boston star Jaylen Brown reached out to teammate Derrick White following the announcement that White would replace Los Angeles Clippers forward on , ensuring no misunderstanding between them.

Both Brown and White were initially not included in the 12-man roster for the Olympics. When Leonard had to withdraw from the squad, White was chosen as his replacement.

"I called Derrick right away," Brown told ESPN. "Just to make sure there's no confusion, my love for you (White) and all of that. He knew that, and he did. You don't always gotta make everything public. Me and D-White are good."

Brown also posted on social media after White's addition to Team USA was reported, hinting at Nike's involvement in his own omission from the team. One post was directed at Nike, a sponsor of USA Basketball.

"There'll be more stuff to come with that but as of now I'm not going to comment on it," Brown said.

Brown has previously criticized Nike, questioning the company's ethical concerns.

Team USA director Grant Hill clarified that Nike had no influence on the decision to replace Leonard with White, stating it was a challenging choice given the many talented players in the United States.

Last season, Brown averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals for the Celtics.
