Real Madrid have confirmed the acquisition of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The French international will join the Spanish and European champions on a five-year contract once his current deal with the Parisian club expires at the end of June.

Mbappe expressed his enthusiasm in a statement shared on social media following the announcement.

"A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dream, Real Madrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can't wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!"

The 25-year-old is currently with the French national team preparing for UEFA Euro . While Mbappe had hoped to represent his country at the Olympic Games in Paris later this summer, the Olympic squad announced on Monday does not include him.

Fresh from their 15th UEFA Champions victory over the weekend, Real Madrid have signed Mbappe on a contract that runs until 2029. The star forward is expected to don the number 9 jersey upon his arrival from PSG.

During his tenure at PSG, Mbappe won six Ligue 1 titles and four Coupe de France trophies. He also reached one UEFA Champions League final and two semifinals during his six-year spell at Parc des Princes. This past season, PSG reached the Champions League semifinals but were defeated by Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid subsequently beat Dortmund 2-0 in the final at Wembley, securing their record-extending 15th UCL title.

Mbappe began his professional career with AS Monaco, playing a crucial role in their 2016-17 Ligue 1 victory. He gained further prominence with the French national team, winning the FIFA 2018 Cup in Russia. His standout performance in the 2022 World Cup led France to the final in Qatar, where they narrowly lost to Argentina in a thrilling match that saw Mbappe's then PSG teammate Lionel Messi emerge victorious.

At Real Madrid, Mbappe is expected to join an attacking lineup featuring Champions League final hero Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and fellow new arrival Endrick. He will also reunite with French compatriots Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy, who are part of France's squad for Euro 2024, where Mbappe will serve as captain for the tournament favorites.

The Bondy native leaves PSG having made significant contributions both domestically and internationally, and his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu marks a major addition to Real Madrid's roster.
