Leipzig's Werner staying at Spurs in another season-long loan
Tottenham Hotspur has finalized an agreement to extend Timo Werner's loan spell from RB Leipzig until the culmination of the upcoming season.
The German forward, who joined Spurs on a temporary basis from the Bundesliga side in January, made 14 appearances across various competitions, finding the net twice during his tenure.
Initially, Tottenham held the option to secure Werner's permanent transfer for £15 million this summer. However, the revised terms now include an option to purchase the 28-year-old for £8.5 million.
Werner's contribution proved significant for Tottenham, providing depth to manager Ange Postecoglou's attacking lineup until a hamstring injury sidelined him for the final five Premier League matches of the season.
Despite Werner's absence, Tottenham clinched fifth place in the Premier League standings, securing qualification for the Europa League in the forthcoming campaign.
With 24 goals from 57 international appearances for Germany, Werner's last outing for his country dates back to a friendly encounter against Belgium in March 2023.
During his stint at Chelsea, Werner amassed 23 goals in 89 appearances, notably winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, before reuniting with RB Leipzig in 2022.
