Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck has secured a spot in Germany's Euro 2024 squad, as confirmed by sources within the German Football Federation (DFB). This decision comes from coach Julian Nagelsmann ahead of the squad announcement scheduled for Thursday.

Schlotterbeck's last appearance for Germany was in September 2023, during a match against Japan under the previous coach, Hansi Flick. Despite not previously being called up by Nagelsmann, Schlotterbeck's performance as a defender for Dortmund, notably in their recent journey to the Champions League final against Real Madrid, has earned him recognition.

The upcoming Champions League final against Real Madrid is slated for June 1 at Wembley, where Schlotterbeck is expected to feature prominently. Consequently, if selected for the Euro 2024 squad, Schlotterbeck will be absent for the friendly fixture against Ukraine on June 3.

Germany's pre-tournament preparations also include a friendly encounter with Greece on June 7, leading up to their first Euro 2024 match against Scotland on June 14.
