Max Verstappen emerged victorious in the Spanish Grand Prix at Circuit de -Catalunya on Sunday, holding off pole-sitter Lando in a thrilling race.

The current championship leader secured his second consecutive win, having previously triumphed at the Canadian GP. Verstappen now boasts seven wins out of the season's 10 races.

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes secured third place, extending his streak of podium finishes to 18 consecutive seasons. The seven-time champion achieved his 198th career top-three finish.

Verstappen's win marks his third consecutive victory at the Spanish GP, putting him tied for the third-most wins at the track alongside Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Mika Hakkinen. Michael Schumacher and Hamilton lead with six victories each.

Following the race, McLaren's climbed to second place in the championship standings for the first time in his career, overtaking Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who now trails by two points.

George Russell briefly led the pack on the opening lap but settled for fourth place, narrowly fending off Charles Leclerc towards the end. Leclerc's teammate Carlos Sainz finished sixth.

McLaren's Oscar Piastri secured seventh place, ahead of Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez, who finished eighth.

The Alpines led by Pierre Gasly secured the final points positions with ninth and tenth places respectively.

The Spanish GP commences a busy triple-header for Formula 1, with the Austrian GP scheduled for next weekend followed immediately by Silverstone.
