Celtics Sign Lonnie Walker IV to 1-Year Deal

The Boston Celtics have signed Lonnie Walker IV, formerly of the Brooklyn Nets, to a one-year contract, according to his representation. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news.

Walker will vie for a spot on the Celtics' roster after signing an Exhibit 10 deal, as noted by The Athletic's Shams Charania. If Walker is waived after training camp but plays for the Celtics' G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, he would receive a bonus from the team.

Last season, the 25-year-old Walker averaged 9.7 points per game and shot 38% from beyond the arc in 58 games with the Nets.

Walker is the only external free agent signed by the Celtics this offseason. The team has also re-signed Xavier Tillman, Luke Kornet, and Neemias Queta, while extending contracts for Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Sam Hauser.

Walker began his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs, who drafted him 18th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. He spent the 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 14.7 points as a starter before dealing with knee tendinitis.
