Gnabry Faces Euro 2024 Uncertainty Due to Hamstring Injury
Bayern Munich's hopes for forward Serge Gnabry to feature in Germany's Euro 2024 campaign are in jeopardy as he has been sidelined for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury, the club confirmed on Friday.
Gnabry's injury occurred during the Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid, where he was forced to leave the pitch after 27 minutes. A subsequent diagnosis revealed a tear in his left hamstring, prompting Bayern to rule him out for the season.
With just two Bundesliga games left for Bayern before Germany's Euro 2024 opener against Scotland on June 14, the timing of Gnabry's injury casts doubt over his availability for the tournament.
The 28-year-old forward has faced a challenging season marred by injuries, resulting in his exclusion from Julian Nagelsmann's recent Germany squad. Despite scoring against his former club in Bayern's Champions League quarter-final fixture, Gnabry's recurring injury struggles saw him substituted and only able to return for the semi-final encounter against Real Madrid.
Gnabry's season has been plagued by setbacks, including a broken arm suffered in September and subsequent muscle injuries that have seen him miss a total of 15 matches since December.
Having represented Germany on 45 occasions and scoring 22 goals, Gnabry's absence would be a significant blow to both Bayern Munich and the German national team as they prepare for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament.
