Napoli Near £30m Deal for Chelsea Striker Lukaku
Napoli is nearing an agreement to acquire Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea following a breakthrough in negotiations.
The Belgium striker, aged 31, is set to join the Italian club for approximately £30 million on a permanent transfer, which will include a sell-on clause.
There is a possibility that this transfer could facilitate Victor Osimhen moving to Chelsea, with the Premier League club reportedly preferring an initial loan arrangement for the Nigerian forward.
Napoli's pursuit of Lukaku is influenced by manager Antonio Conte, who previously managed the Belgian during two successful seasons at Inter Milan from 2019 to 2021.
Lukaku rejoined Chelsea in 2021 for £97.5 million but has since spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy—first with Inter Milan and then with Roma.
His return to Stamford Bridge has been ineffective, and he has not featured for Chelsea since May 2022.
Chelsea aims to reduce their squad size, which has expanded to over 40 players following 11 new signings this summer.
