Euro 2024 Champion Alvaro Morata Signs for AC Milan
Alvaro Morata has officially joined AC Milan from Atletico Madrid, returning to Serie A shortly after winning Euro 2024 with Spain.
The 31-year-old striker signed a four-year contract with Milan, intended to fill the void left by Olivier Giroud, who transferred to Los Angeles FC.
"Morata has signed with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year," AC Milan stated.
According to Italian media, Milan paid Morata's €13-million release clause, and he will earn approximately €4.5 million per season.
Morata participated in every match of Spain's Euro 2024 campaign, scoring his sole goal in a 3-0 victory over Croatia, which marked the beginning of their tournament run in Germany. He has scored 36 goals in 80 international appearances for Spain.
This move marks Morata's return to Italy after two previous stints with Juventus, during which he won two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies. His career also includes an FA Cup victory with Chelsea and two Champions League titles with Real Madrid, achieved in 2014 and 2017.
AC Milan, who finished second in Serie A last season, 19 points behind champions Inter Milan, will start the new season under new coach Paulo Fonseca with a home match against Torino on August 17.
